  • Date: 04/29/2023 9:00 AM - 11:59 AM
  • Location: Miwok Park
    1700 Regal Drive
Arbor Day, a national holiday that celebrates nature. Arbor Day started because of Julius Sterling Morton, a man who had a passion for planting all kinds of trees. The first Arbor Day occurred on April 10, 1872 in Nebraska City. By 1885, Arbor Day became a legal holiday in Nebraska; the date changed to April 22, to commemorate Mr. Morton’s birthday. National Arbor Day is generally celebrated on the last Friday in April but many states will observe the day throughout the year based on their best tree planting time. A popular Arbor Day tradition is to plant a tree in honor or memory of a loved one. Planting trees is not only a great way to remember someone, but beneficial for many reasons. Trees help clean our air and provide us with oxygen. Views of trees help to decrease stress for a person and bring satisfaction. The City of Brentwood will celebrate this day with an event on Saturday, April 29, 2023 by planting trees, spreading mulch and picking up trash at Miwok Park. Please indicate on your registration the number of participants you are bringing with you. Participants should bring their own personal protection equipment (i.e. gloves, safety glasses etc.). Snacks and water will be provided. We hope to see you there!
