Day: Flexible, depending on assignment
Time: Generally 8am-5pm, depending on assignment - nighttime hours on occasion for special details (minimum 48 volunteer hours per year)

Summary
VIPS is a group of volunteers who assist the police department in many of its everyday functions. These citizen volunteers help supplement and support officers and civilian personnel by allowing them to concentrate on their primary duties. We do our best to match the skills of the volunteer with the needs of the department. This is a uniformed position and equipment required to complete tasks is provided by the department. Duties: Assist with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to the following:
- Front desk help (answering phones, etc.)
- Clerical (photocopying, scanning, filing, etc.)
- DA case runner / mail run
- Neighborhood Watch and National Night Out
- Police station tours
- Fingerprinting (LiveScan services)
- Call-out assistance (missing persons, traffic control, etc.)
- D.U.I. checkpoints
- Radar trailer deployment
- Parking enforcement
- Vehicle abatement
- Vacation watch
- Remove garage sale signs
- Patrol vehicle maintenance
- Roving patrol
- Special events
Qualifications
US citizen or naturalized citizen of US, 18 years of age or older, pass fingerprint and background check, possess valid California driver license (depending on task).
