The City of Brentwood monitors and participates in a variety of regional issues, many of which relate directly to the Planning Division. Some of the more notable issues include those related to:
The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG)
The comprehensive regional planning agency and Council of Governments for the nine counties and 101 cities and towns of the San Francisco Bay region.
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC),
The transportation planning, coordinating, and financing agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.
The Contra Costa Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO)
Responsible for overseeing most forms of local government boundary change, including incorporation, annexations, and special district formations.
The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA)
Public agency formed by Contra Costa voters in 1988 to manage the county's transportation sales tax program and to do countywide transportation planning. The CCTA is responsible for maintaining and improving the county’s transportation system by planning, funding, and delivering critical transportation infrastructure projects and programs.
The East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy
Joint exercise of powers authority formed by the Cities of Brentwood, Clayton, Oakley, and Pittsburg, as well as Contra Costa County, in order to implement the East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservation Plan/Natural Community Conservation Plan (HCP/NCCP). The HCP/NCCP provides a framework to protect natural resources in eastern Contra Costa County, while improving and streamlining the environmental permitting process for impacts on endangered species.
