Sand Creek Sports Complex

This project is included in the City's Strategic Plan for FY 2022/23 - FY 2023/24.  Sand Creek Sports Complex Phase I consists of the design and construction of approximately 14.50 acres of City-owned property identified as the future Sand Creek Sports Complex.  It is anticipated that the park will include up to 2-3 full size sports fields (soccer/multi-use to be determined), parking lot, restrooms, picnic area and other possible park amenities such as pickleball courts, basketball courts, exercise equipment, playground etc.  Phase II is made up of the Contra Costa County Flood Control detention basin, which consists of 19.24 acres, and will potentially add 2-3 sports fields.  The total project estimated cost is $15 million.

This project was approved as part of the FY 2022/23 - 26/27 Capital Improvement Program that was adopted by City Council on June 28, 2022.

City Council awarded an Agreement for Landscape Design Architectural Services to Verde Design, Inc. on November 15, 2022.  The work for this agreement will commence the first week of December 2022.

Verde Design, Inc. is working on 65% submittal.  Environmental services consultant is currently working through the CEQA process.
