The City of Brentwood is accepting applications for the position of Poet Laureate for a 2-year term. The application will be open until the positon is filled. Applicants will be invited to read a poem at an Arts Commission meeting.

The Poet Laureate will serve as a public advocate for the appreciation and advancement of the arts, particularly poetry. The Poet Laureate is responsible for increasing the public’s awareness of the benefits of poetry and related literacy arts, as well as commemorating certain civic events through composing and reading poetry at inaugurations, dedications, etc.  Applicants shall be residents of Brentwood at time of appointment.
