Since water is a limited resource and it is important to each of us every day, water conservation is essential.  By following these water conservation tips you can help conserve water every day.

  • Water landscape only when necessary. Turning your irrigation off during the winter may reduce your sewer charge.
  • Recommended irrigation schedule.
  • Check for leaks and repair as necessary. A running toilet can use thousands of gallons each month.
  • Learn to read your water meter and track your use: Read your water meter on a regular basis to track water usage trends and catch leaks. Keep a record of all readings. You will be able to detect trends from season to season and year to year. If your household changes in anyway that affects water (new family member, plumbing upgrade, etc.) you will be able to determine the effect of the change.
  • Understanding your utility bill may help you reduce your bill. Your utility bill includes a water charge, water base charge, garbage, sewer lateral charge, and a sewer base charge.
  • If you have not already done so, schedule a water use evaluation with the Water Conservation Specialist.
